The Place That Held Me Twice Minnie Escapes Stay Edit™ | Pickalbatros White Beach Taghazout · Agadir · February 2024 & October 2024

 Some places you choose.

Others choose you.

White Beach Taghazout chose me in February 2024 — during one of the heaviest years of my life. And when October came, I returned. Not because I needed to see something new. But because I needed to return to something proven.

A place I already knew could hold me.

Why I Came

In January 2024, I lost my Auntie Christine.

In the months that followed, grief kept arriving. Aunt Alithea in May, Uncle Snagger in June, in total Five beloved family members within twelve months. Each loss reopening the one before it — a wound that never fully closes before it is asked to open again.

I didn’t travel to escape that grief. I’ve learned, through years of loss and movement, that grief doesn’t stay behind when you pack your bags. It travels with you. Quietly. In the folds of every day.

What travel can do — if the place is right — is hold it alongside you.

The Atlantic Ocean, stretching endlessly from the shores of Taghazout, was that kind of place.

I sat on the beach at sunrise and sunset — my partner close, but that particular moment belonging entirely to me, listening to music, allowing song lyrics to describe my grief. I let the waves take nothing, grief isn’t dissolved by water but I let the sound of them be the thing that steadied me. I took photographs not to document beauty, but to capture rawness. My own. The shore’s.

For the first time in months, I let myself grieve without shame.

The Stay

Pickalbatros White Beach Taghazout · Adults Only · Ultra All Inclusive · 5★

White Beach Taghazout sits directly on the shores of Taghazout — a former fishing village about 18km from Agadir, now home to one of Morocco’s most quietly extraordinary beachfront resorts. Built in 2020, the property is modern, immaculately maintained, and designed around the Atlantic view that is its greatest asset.

And that view. It is genuinely exceptional.

Six outdoor pools set out like an oasis, leading directly onto the promenade and the beach beyond. Every sightline draws you toward the ocean. You wake up to it. You fall asleep to the sound of it. On days when you need to do nothing, the sea does the work simply by being there.

The facilities are excellent and comprehensive — the spa is huge, like an underground labyrinth of rooms, with a heated indoor pool, sauna, and steam room. The gym is well-equipped. The pools — including the indoor pool — feature mesmerising lighting and warm water. There are tennis courts, aqua fitness classes, morning yoga, and an animation team who bring genuine energy to the evenings without ever being intrusive.

The food is outstanding. Three restaurants — the international buffet, the Italian Alfredo, and the Azha Moroccan restaurant (reserve in advance; limited to one visit per stay and worth it entirely). The variety is broad and the quality is consistently high. We didn’t need to leave the resort for anything. And we didn’t.

The promenade is a particular highlight for anyone who loves to walk or run. It stretches beautifully along the coast — the kind of route where an early morning walk becomes something you look forward to from the night before.

The entertainment in the evenings is genuinely fun. If you love to dance, this is a place that gives you full permission. Lively, warm, a real sense of community among guests without ever feeling forced.

And the staff.

On my second visit in October 2024, they remembered us.

Not as guests from a database. As people. By name. With warmth that felt personal rather than performed. That detail — being recognised and welcomed back — made the return feel like exactly what it was: a homecoming.

That is the kind of hospitality that earns loyalty. And that earns a second Stay Edit.

What Four or Five Days Here Really Gives You

I’ve stayed twice now, and both times the trip has been four to five days. I’ve come to believe this is the ideal duration for White Beach Taghazout — not because the resort runs out of things to offer, but because this length of stay allows the place to do what it does best: reset you completely.

Stay longer and you’d be drawn into Taghazout village, into Agadir itself, into the surfers and the souks and the wider coastal landscape. All of that is worth exploring. But each time we came here, the purpose was clear. We came to be held. We came to rest. To return to each other without the noise of ordinary life getting in the way.

Four or five days of sea air, good food, spa mornings, promenade walks, and evenings with music achieves a deeper reset than a longer trip that tries to do too much.

It is a place that has earned our return. Twice. And we will return again.

What I’d Tell a Client

White Beach Taghazout is one of the finest all-inclusive adults-only resorts on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. I recommend it without hesitation for:

Solo travellers who need somewhere that will genuinely hold them — the staff warmth and self-contained nature of the resort makes solo stays feel nourishing, not isolating.

Couples seeking a complete reset — the combination of sea views, spa, pools, and evening entertainment creates a natural rhythm that lets relationships breathe.

Anyone going through something heavy — grief, transition, burnout — who needs a place proven to hold that weight without asking anything in return.

If you are drawn to Morocco’s coastline rather than its cities, this is where I would send you first.
